There are some food events in Austin that are pretty awesome (can anyone say the Hill Country Food and Wine Festival?) and there are some that fun diversions, like the Taste of North Austin. Sponsored by The Domain, it's an afternoon of live music, cooking demonstrations, and food tastings. Most of the participating restaurants live at the Domain, but there are a few others that come out to contribute the festivities.
How does it work? You go to the Domain and purchase a wristband for $20, which gets you 10 samples of food from one of the available vendors. So who is participating?

I went a last year with Rachel of Boots in the Oven and we had a good time going to the cooking demonstrations and sampling some of the food. However, we did eventually end up at Jasper's eating blue cheese potato chips. It's an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. Check it out!
