It sounds like a lot of people worry about the waste when they commit to a CSA. We have run Austin's first CSA since 1994, and have turned lots of commitment-phobes into adventurous gastronomers! The excitement of following what's in season in this locality pleases the palette, the mind, and the checkbook. Buying directly from a farm CSA is hugely cheaper than buying organics from WF or CM (not to mention so much better-tasting and greener), and also a bit cheaper than buying at the farmers' market. let me know if you'd like more information. Laura, everything you made looks awesome! We did wraps with that butter lettuce, too - it's just perfect. And I agree with you about the size - for the two of us, between the biweekly bushel and ordering from the Soup Peddler, I don't think I've been to the grocery store (except for milk) in two months!
