Nice post! Thanks for the link, too. I'm right there with you about the food, which didn't blow me away, but was adequate. And what Natanya said about the patio pricing is a bit troubling - I hate when restaurants have different prices in different areas, it's so... manipulative. I do wish Todd luck there in the kitchen, though, because the dishes he was most proud of were certainly the best.

Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed report on your experience at TRIO. I encouraged some co-workers to visit there on Wednesday night because I'd heard okay to great things about the food and the happy hour. And of course the prices weren't unattractive either. However, we were a bit surprised when we arrived to discover that the happy hour prices (and free parking) are only in play in a small part of the restaurant. We ate out on the patio to enjoy the view and we paid full price for everything and $7 for parking. When we asked the waiter about the price difference he said that the happy hour is specifically designed to get more people into the inside of TRIO because most evenings the patio is packed when the inside is empty and that impacts their wait staff distribution. My CEO had a lively discussion with him around staffing and planning but in the end, we couldn't talk our way into happy hour prices out on the patio. I think I will still go back because the food was yummy, although not spectacular, but next time I'll order food inside and carry it out to the patio for the best of both worlds.
